๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿป Patients regularly ask me if there’s a way to treat their sweaty hands because it really affects their job. Excessive hand sweating is can be a frustrating condition; sweaty hands usually come along with sweaty feet. In severe cases, this can greatly affect oneโ€™s social life, work performance and even health.

How I treat this condition in TCM?

๐Ÿ“Œ Sweaty palms/feet can be attributed to several possible diagnoses, including:

  • Spleen Qi Deficiency: The Spleen transforms and transports nutrients. Weak Spleen Qi can disrupt fluid regulation, causing excessive sweating. ย
  • Heart Qi Deficiency: The Heart manages blood and circulation. Insufficient Heart Qi may impair fluid flow, leading to excessive sweating. ย
  • Damp-Heat in the Spleen and Stomach: Damp-Heat refers to an excess of heat and moisture in the body, causing excessive sweating, particularly in the hands and feet. ย
  • Liver Yang Rising: The upward energy of the Liver is called Liver Yang. When it’s excessive, it results in restlessness, irritability, and sweating.

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  โค๏ธ The treatment approach that includes Chinese Herbal Medicine and Acupuncture Point Prescription will be followed by the individualโ€™s diagnosed pattern of disharmony as described above.ย

๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿป Case Study

A 38-year-old male nurse in the operating room has difficulty with his job because of excessive hand sweating, which soaks his gloves and requires constant replacement. The patient is overweight, deals with stress, and unhealthy eating.

By examining the patient’s tongue and pulse, as well as the symptoms present, he is dealing with Damp-Heat in the Spleen and Stomach pattern. Herbal prescription: San Ren Tang “Three-kernel Decoction”, this formula can clear heat, dry dampness in Spleen/Stomach organs and regulate digestive systems.

After six acupuncture sessions and a month of herbal treatment, the patient experienced a notable decrease in sweating, he can work in the operating room without needing to change gloves frequently.

โšก๏ธ Also, stress, anxiety, and specific foods play significant roles in the development of the problem. It is important for individuals to find ways to alleviate these factors through relaxation methods, dietary changes, and regular exercise.
